Vortex Centrum Limited

Vortex Centrum is a loose Latin translation of "The Eye of the Storm." Formed in 1999, we were at the forefront of the digital revolution, as it was called then. Later, when publishing companies started to use the internet, we learned that we were a "new media company."

Well, many of those companies that were proud to be "new media companies" are no longer around. A blitz of spending (they called it a "burn rate" and the faster a company burned money the faster investors seemed to throw more at them.

Well, in 2009 we celebrate 10 years in which the digital age has still not come for many, and the digital revolution has fizzled out. Now companies that publish in soft-copy only are not so rare - and we don't think we are "new media" - if we ever were.

We started with an esoteric publication for people working in banks and other financial institutions, law enforcement and government. It was the first e-newsletter about money laundering and today it remains a trailblazer, along with its sister daily news service at wmlro.com, and an e-library at the same site.

We pioneered the use of e-learning first as content providers and then, with our sister company AML Net Sdn Bhd in Malaysia using our own advanced technology platform.

We formed a conferences division, The Financial Crime Forum which was spun off into its own company in about 2006.

And then we returned to our roots: the publication of information on the internet.

We launched The Chief Officers' Network (www.chiefofficers.net) which is made up of lots of different sections. chiefofficers.net is a mix of news and features, including features contributed by our readers. Amongst those sections are www.theriskprofessional.com, www.biznewsselect.com, www.bizlawcentral.com and of course GoodbyeOldFriend.

We are building a stable of community sites for special interests. Just keep an eye out for our Group logo: you might see it on all kinds of sites.

Also in our Group are

Silkscreen Consulting (www.countermoneylaundering.com) the website that started our Group's internet presence in 1996. Silkscreen Consulting is a world leader in the development of counter-money laundering strategies for financial institutions and governments. Silkscreen also operates the site www.moneylaunderingriskmatrix.com - which also links to www.financialcrimeforum.com, the website of The Financial Crime Forum.

Risk Values (www.riskvalues.com) is a small piece of software that helps identify potentially rogue employees and potentially criminal customers.

These are just some of the businesses and websites in the Group. See "Our Group" for a full list.
